Terms of Service
Effective date: August 1, 2026
These terms govern use of the sjq.legal website and, during early access, the SJQ Processor service provided by Timbre Solutions, Inc. ("Timbre Solutions," "we," "us"). Early-access engagements are additionally governed by a written engagement agreement, which controls if it conflicts with these terms.
1. The service
SJQ Processor generates court-ready supplemental juror questionnaires, extracts responses from scanned completed questionnaires, validates the extracted data, and produces analysis for use by counsel in jury selection. The service is available to licensed attorneys and their staff, and to litigants' authorized trial consultants, in connection with a specific court matter.
2. Not legal advice; counsel remains responsible
SJQ Processor is a litigation-support tool. It does not provide legal advice, and its output is not a substitute for the professional judgment of counsel. Strike decisions, cause challenges, and all other decisions in jury selection remain the sole responsibility of the attorneys of record. Extracted data should be verified against source pages — the product links every extraction to its source for exactly that purpose.
3. Court rules control
Use of the service must comply with all applicable court orders, local rules, and professional-conduct obligations, including any rules governing juror questionnaire confidentiality, distribution, and destruction. Where a court order is stricter than these terms or our Privacy Policy, the court order controls, and you are responsible for telling us about it.
4. Your responsibilities
- Provide only materials you are authorized to possess and process — juror questionnaires obtained through lawful court process in a matter in which you are counsel of record or an authorized consultant.
- Maintain the confidentiality of juror data on your side: completed questionnaires, extracted data, and reports we deliver to you.
- Do not use the service, or attempt to use it, to make juror decisions based on protected-class characteristics. The software will not assist in doing so; attempting to circumvent that restriction is a violation of these terms and grounds for immediate termination.
- Do not resell, sublicense, or provide the service to third parties.
5. Juror data
Juror data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy: processed only for your engagement, never warehoused, and destroyed on a court-calendar clock with a Certificate of Destruction available to counsel. You retain all rights in your case materials; we claim no ownership of anything you submit.
6. Early access
During early access, the service is provided on an engagement basis, features may change, and turnaround expectations are set per engagement. We will be candid about what is production-ready and what is not.
7. Intellectual property
The SJQ Processor software, questionnaire-generation system, and this website are the property of Timbre Solutions and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Questionnaire templates generated for your case may be filed and used in your matter without restriction.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Handwriting extraction is probabilistic; no extraction technology is perfect, which is why every result is traceable to its source page for verification. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Timbre Solutions' total liability arising out of the service is limited to the amounts paid for the engagement giving rise to the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including any claim arising from the outcome of any litigation.
9. Termination
Either party may end an engagement as provided in the engagement agreement. On termination, juror data is destroyed as described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Changes
We may update these terms; the effective date above will change when we do. Material changes during an active engagement will be communicated directly.
